Saturday 7/15/2017 President of Iran Customs participates in WCO’s Council Session Masoud Karbasian, the president of Iran Customs, attended the 129th/130th sessions of the WCO Council in Brussels and presented fruitful proposals and said that the conventions and recommendations of the World Customs Organizations should be revised and changed according to the developments occurred in information technologies.
In his speech ,Dr. Karbasian appreciated the efforts of the Council’s Chairman and the Secretary General of the WCO for their guidance and reports based on the implementation of the strategic plan and added :” Most of the conventions and recommendations date back to the time before the emergence of modern information technologies and they do not meet our today’s needs.” Of course,  packages, compendiums and recommendations of the Kyoto Convention regarding the IT , WCO ‘s IT Conference and specifically  the fifth strategic target established by the WCO are useful tools and complements but it seems that WCO’s conventions which are bases for other tools need revising and compliance, he further added.
The president of Iran Customs further emphasized on the importance of IT in Digital Customs and theme of this year as data analysis for harmonized border management and suggested that the Sub-Committee of Information management which is under the supervision of the Permanent Technical Committee should be an independent committee from now on.
