Analysis of Iran’s foreign trade in last year Iran’s foreign trade in last year(1390 )especially with regards to export of non oil goods and service industry demonstrates the ineffectiveness of sanctions against the country and it is a direct result of economic activities in the year of economic activism. Non oil exports in last year (1390) reached the new record high of 43.8 billion Dollars which shows a 29 percent increase to the year before.
Also in 1390 total value of imports was 61.8 billion Dollars which shows 4.1 percent decrease to the year 1389.
Non oil exports of Iran in year 1390 were to 160 countries and the Iran also imported from 153 countries which shows Iran has trade ties with most of the world’s countries.
Another important fact is that 72 percent of all of Iran’s imports were semi processed and raw material goods, 17 percent were capital goods and only 11 percent were consumer goods.
Main Imports and their countries of origin,
In the year 1390 five thousand and 565 types of goods were imported, these include steel with the value of 2 billion and 382 million Dollars that is 3.86 percent of total imports, half processed rice with the value of 1 billion and 253 million Dollars that is 2.03 percent of total imports and animal feeding corn with the value of 1 billion and 234 million Dollars that is 2 percent of total imports.
Most of Iran’s imports in year 1390 were from “United Arab Emirates” as 14.044 thousand tonnes of goods were imported from this country. Total value of imported goods from Emirates was 19 billion and 708 million Dollars that is 36.66 percent of total weight of imports and 31.90 percent of total value of imports.
Iran also imported 3.190 thousand tonnes of goods from china with the total value of 7 billion and 393 million Dollars that is equal to 8.33 percent of total weight of imports and 11.97 percent of total value of imports.
Imports from Korea were at 3.062 thousand tonnes with total value of 4 billion and 744 million Dollars that is 7.99 percent of total weight of imports and 7.68 percent of total value of imports.
Iran also imported 727 thousand tonnes of goods from Germany with total value of 3 billion and 464 million Dollars which is 1.90 percent of total weight of imports and 5.61 percent of total value of imports.
Imports from turkey were are at 1.929 thousand tonnes with total value of 3 billion and 464 million Dollars which is 5.04 percent of total weight of imports and 5.36 percent of total value of imports.


The average price per tonne of imported goods in year 1390 was one thousand and 613 Dollars which shows a 13.48 percent increase of value in Dollars.
Also 72 percent of Iran’s imports were from Asia, 26 percent from Europe, 1.6 percent from Americas and the rest were from Africa and Oceania.

In year 1390 Iran exported 3 thousand and 357 types of goods most of which were liquefied Propane with total value of 2 billion and 66 million Dollars which is 6.12 percent of total value of exported non oil goods, petroleum gases and liquefied hydrocarbons with total value of one billion and 986 million Dollars which is 5.88 percent of total value of exported goods and Methanol with total value of one billion and 364 million Dollars which is 4.04 percent of total value of exported goods.

Iran’s exports with inclusion of liquefied gas increased by 10.80 percent in weight and by 23.66 percent of value in Euro(29.08 percent value in Dollars).
Most of Iran’s exports in last year was to china as Iran exported 25.390 thousand tonnes of goods to this country. Total value of Iranian exports to china was at 5 billion and 652 million Dollars which is 38.19 percent of total weight of exports and 16.73 percent of total value of exports.
Iran exported 1.070 thousand tonnes of goods to Iraq with total value of 5 billion and 151 million Dollars which is 16.10 percent of total weight of exports and 15.25 percent of total value of exports.
Iran’s exports to United Arab Emirates was 4.978 thousand tonnes with total value of 4 billion and 515 million Dollars which is 7.49 percent of total weight of exports and 13.37 percent of total value of exports.
Iran also exported 5.626 thousand tonnes of goods to India with total value of 2 billion and 752 million Dollars which is 8.46 percent of total weight of exports and 8.15 percent of total value of exports.
Iran’s exports to Afghanistan was 2.911 thousand tonnes with total value of 2 billion and 179 million Dollars which is 4.38 percent of total weight of exports and 6.45 percent of total value of exports.

Average price of exported goods in year 1390 was 508 Dollars per tonne which shows 15.20 percent increase compared to year before.
91 percent of Iran’s exports in the year 1390 were to Asia, 6.5 percent to Europe, 1.35 percent to Africa, 0.67 percent to Americas and the rest was to Oceania.
Conclusion,
The statistics of Iran’s foreign trade in 1390 shows that even with the sanctions imposed, Iran has been able to have trade ties with 160 countries. This shows sanctions have not had any effects on Iran’s trade with other countries.
The statistics also demonstrate that in this year Iran Imported 5,565 types of goodss of goods and exported 3,357 types of goods which shows high number of different goods were traded between Iran and other countries.
Also non oil exports of Iran’s commodities to other countries increased by 28 percent in the year 1390 and reached 43.8 billion Dollars which is evidence of high and competitive manufacturing potentials of the country.
Also comparison of trade statistics of Iran in the years 1389 and 1390 shows that balance of trade in regards of non oil goods has improved significantly as this balance reached -17.9 billion Dollars in year 1390 compared to -30.5 billion Dollars in year 1389.
