Export of handicrafts hits 192 million dollars
Hand woven carpet with allocation of 144.9 million dollars stood at first place among the other kinds of handicrafts
During the first 5 months of the current Iranian calendar year ( started at March 21 2006) around 192.5 million dollars of handicrafts have been exported to abroad which show 7 percent of fall compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to the report of the Public Relations Dept. of IRICA , hand woven carpet with allocation of 144.9 million dollars stood at first place among the other kinds of handicrafts but it faced a decline of 5.5 percent in comparison with the same period of the previous year.
The report further added that the United States of America with 34 million dollars was the main importer of Iranian handicrafts. Germany with 22.4 million dollars, United Arab Emirates with 14.6 million dollars obtained the other ranks after the USA. Japan and Italy were the 4th and 5th countries in the list of importers of Iranian handicrafts as well.
In total, the mentioned five countries have imported 152 million and 464 thousand dollars of different kinds of handicrafts of our country. In other words , these countries allocated 79 percent of the total value of Iran’s export of handicrafts .
Based on reports, export of handicrafts formed 3.3 percent of total value of Iran’s non – oil exports during the period under consideration.
