Launch of ASYCUDA World in Iran’s customs
Experts of UNCTAD explained about the process of installation and implementation of ASYCUDA World in a meeting attended by Iranian customs managers
According to the report of Public Relations office of IRICA, experts of UNCTAD in a meeting held on February 6 2007 in Iran’s customs headquarters, explained the phases of launching and implementing of ASYCUDA World for Iran’s customs managers, and talked about its advantages.
With regard to the progress of modern technology in the world for facilitating and expediting customs procedures, the mentioned system, namely ASYCUDA World, should be implemented in the customs administrations all over the world, the report added.
According to the report, in this meeting, Mr. Alioune Ciss, the regional manager of ASYCUDA project in the Middle East referred to the promotion of Iran’s customs in the field of ASYCUDA++ system and said “As ASYCUDA++ is an old system technologically we should replace it with a new system which is web based and called ASYCUDA world.”
Use of electronic signature for documents and fingerprint as well as providing an expert IT and customs affairs team and preparing necessary investment for needed hardware and software are essential, he further added.
ASYCUDA World will cover all customs procedures and all customs, which have prepared investments for ASYCUDA++, can execute this system with ASYCUDA++ simultaneously, Mr. Alioune Ciss said.
The regional manager of ASYCUDA project added, “UNCTAD will offer help in training the customs personnel for implementation of ASYCUDA World in order to reach the paperless trade”, After signing the agreement with UNCTAD, installations and launch of ASYCUDA World in Iran’s customs will be started. This project will be done in 4 phases and within 2 years of work.
It should be mentioned that ASYCUDA++ have been executed in 3 phases in order to automate the clearance formalities from 10 years ago in Iran.
